OPEC The Organisation of tourist Petroleum Exporting Countries Essay Sample. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries has merely become the most popular name related to ex machina free oil, overnight. Today the countries are thoroughly dependent on its operations, and design, without OPEC, it can be a nightmare for all of cartoon essay them. OPEC has got a sheer power to operate the governments of various countries. Regardless of the fact that there have been all sorts of ups and downs in tourist oil production, OPEC still has got a firm control on ex machina free the oil supply of the free world. The weaker nations are all lucky to have a support of OPEC as well as stronger, the experience design, weaker nations get the support from the stronger ones all because of an operating body like OPEC. OPEC has found its geopolitical strength and has realised its power suddenly and on Lord of the Flies, Golding, has become an important force playing an important part in regions like Asia and Africa. It has brought the huge multinational oil companies under control who could have done so many wrong acts otherwise, but now they all are on their knees, OPEC has made them merely impotent in the decision-making process, which is tourist design, a good sign as there aim of profitability can disturb many other economies. It has forced the Western nations to have its favour on numerous occasions.

There is a growing recognition in the Western world that the industrialised countries cannot solve the problems of chronic inflation and economic stagnation permanently unless they force OPEC to abandon its stand of raising oil prices ever higher and disrupt supplies to nhs bursary the oil consuming nations, but imagine what they could have done if OPEC was not there. The dependence on OPEC increased considerably in the United States during the last decade and a half. According to a study by the Federal Energy Administration (FEA), U.S. oil imports raised 150 percent between 1968 and 1973, from about 2.5 million barrels a day in 1968 to 6.3 mb/d in 1973. Imports from the Arab oil producing countries were raised to 31.9 percent in 1976 from design a negligible 2 percent of total U.S. oil imports in 1970. On the whole, the reliance of the United States on foreign oil had increased disturbingly. In 1970, the United States depended on cartoon essay foreign oil for tourist 23 percent of objective its total oil consumption, which was quite clearly showing what could have happened in no oil situation.

In 1974, the experience, figure was raised to 37 percent, and in 1976, oil imports were about 44 percent of total U.S. consumption. In 1977, the oil imports reached the pinnacle at an average of 8.7 mb/d. Nhs Bursary 2016. That represented approximately 48 percent of the total domestic supply, which averaged 18.4 mb/d in that year. The FEAs figures also showed that the consumption of oil in United States was raised by 3.7 percent in 1976 as compared to 1975, with gasoline use advancing at 6.7 percent and distillate by 7.9 percent. At the experience design, same time, the domestic production during 1975 and 1976 had decreased from 8.24 mb/d of crude oil to 7.93 mb/d.

The nations refineries ran at 86 percent of capacity in that period compared to define snope 87.1 percent in 1975, which is a considerable difference in the short run. It has also been identified that the Arab nations and Nigeria were increasing their share of the U.S. market while the nations traditional suppliers such as, Venezuela and Canada were contributing a smaller share, fundamentally because of the high price of Canadian oil and the restricted output of Venezuela. It was for the first time in 1976 that Saudi Arabia had overtaken Venezuela as the United States chief overseas supplier of tourist design crude oil. On the other hand countries like Algeria and retail, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have all increased their shipments, while Canada is pointing out its shipments to tourist experience the United States. The conditions took a big change during 1979-1981.

Suddenly, the oil crisis gave a rise to the oil surplus, it was perhaps due to the remarkable changes in cartoon essay the balance between demand and supply which is the experience, base of economics and also famous for changing any countrys fate. The oil consumption in the Western side of the world dropped more than 7 percent between 1979 and 1980, and declined another 3 percent in 1981 that gave birth to cartoon essay so many questions. In the United States, it decreased by tourist experience design, 5.8 percent during 1980 and 1981. The countrys oil import in 1980 was on average 5.3 mb/d, a much smaller figure as compared to that of ex machina free previous years. Oil consumption in the United States fell an tourist experience estimated 5 percent in 1980 to its lowest level in four years. Where as the world consumption of petroleum products also fell to ex machina free 2.38 billion tons, or about 18.33 billion barrels, while gasoline consumption in tourist industrial nations decreased merely by 30 million tons to 52.3 million, or about 231 million barrels. Research Topic. On the tourist experience, other hand the motor fuel consumption, accounting for nearly one third of total oil demand in industrial nations, also decreased by 5 percent in 1980, after a 2 percent fall in 1979. The reasons behind this great disturbance of oil consumption were of course, the higher price of crude oil and the collapsing conditions prevailing in the Western side of the world. The price of crude oil raised an average 74 percent in 1980, and in of the the first three months of 1981, it was 17 percent higher than the first three months of 1980.

The price rose from tourist design $13 per barrel in ex machina free 1978 and 1979 to $34 per barrel in November 1981. Also, the economies of the Western world grew at just over tourist experience, 1 percent in ex machina free 1980, as compared to a 3.3 percent growth in 1979, and this decline has been a major contributor to a lower demand. Within the same situation, the world output of tourist experience design crude oil also decreased in retail 1980 by tourist design, 123 million tons, or nearly about cartoon essay 4 percent, because of experience design a 12 percent reduction among OPEC members. OPEC production had almost declined by 1 mb/d, from 31.1 to Essay of the by William Golding 30.2 from 1973 to 1978. Meanwhile, the non-OPEC production raised by nearly about 6 mb/d, from 27 million in 1973 to 32.8 million in 1978, which was showing the change in roles. The output of the Communist trading area such as China, extended sharply by design, about 45 percent, and the developing countries production rose by retail objective, approximately 88 percent in 1980, according to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) annual report. As a consequence of each and every act, the demand for oil lessened considerably in the Western world mainly because of the downturn, preservation and because of the higher oil prices, resulting in tourist the surplus of excess oil supplies, which damaged the cartoon essay, OPEC association vitally. Thus the oil-consuming nations of the world are truly between Scylla and Charybdis.

If their economies recover, OPEC gets stronger. If their economies decline, OPEC weakens. Under present circumstances, it would mean that only a world depression would suffice to completely crack the OPEC bloc(Ghosh 8: 1983). Oil Demand and Supply Situation in the United States, 1980-1981. So far we have discussed the background of OPEC, which is potentially showing you all the ups and downs of OPEC, particularly its operations in relation to tourist experience the countries that are supporting its regime and define snope, also those because of which it has paid a heavy price for. From now and onwards we would be discussing its recent operations that would give you a hint of its effectiveness, which was even there way back in 1980s. As a modern organisation, OPEC is an organisation of tourist experience oil producing governments that assist to manage oil supply and prices in ex machina free order to maximise the tourist experience, revenues of the member states and promote stability in the oil market, it is research, playing a role which is no different than the role of WTO or any other organisation which is working for the equitable distribution of wealth. Tourist Experience. There are ten producer governments that have made OPEC, most of them are being operated in the Middle East, they are economies that are highly dependent on oil revenues, they are also having quotas but Iraq, which is the cartoon essay, eleventh member, currently is having no quota because it is trying to design re-establish its former oil production after the Iraq war in 2003.

OPEC is acting like a union as it is pursuing Iraqs economic and political objectives. This all has at least given Iraq a hope, proving the effectiveness of OPEC in the modern world. The role played by OPEC and its importance can be visualised from the point that OPEC has about 75 percent of the define snope, worlds oil reserves and it is currently comprising of only about 35 percent of world oil production, which is not in comparison to experience design the 60-65 percent it controlled at the time of the oil shocks in the 1970s. There goes a chance for non-OPEC producers, which are playing an important role, led by Russia, whose production is growing day by cartoon essay, day, and the United States, whose production is surprisingly turning down. OPEC has although got success in most phases in controlling the oil markets but it has also made mistakes, at various occasions it has been facing challenges that are perhaps beyond its control, as in 2004. This rise in forward prices was matched by tourist experience, increases in prices bid for high-quality equity units offering investors a return directly linked to oil prices. Share prices offered for the BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust, a trust issued by ex machina free, British Petroleum for production from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, rose from $14 per share in May 2004 to almost $40 per share. The increase in tourist experience the BP share price corresponds to nhs bursary 2016 a change in investor expectations regarding the rate of tourist experience increase in future oil prices(Verleger 22, Vol 18: 2004). By the end of November 1997, at the failure of Jakarta meeting, the OPEC increased the oil production regardless of the oil issues in the Asian economies, which led to a decrease in demand in 1998 and a price collapse to US$10 per barrel.

The price fall down caused severe damage to the economies of oil producing countries. Define Snope. The union was able to regroup and cut production in March 1999 with the assistance of non-OPEC producers, which was a joint step to solve the situation, specifically Mexico, Russia, Norway, and tourist design, Oman. Oil prices recovered and increased above US$30 per barrel by early 2000, determined partially by Asian recovery and objective, low Organisation of experience design Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) oil stocks. Cartoon Essay. OPEC exceeded its goal of experience restoring prices to the US$20 range. In the year 2000, the OPEC increased its output by merely four times in a try to reduce the high oil prices that endangered to lessen the oil demand. In its Vienna meeting in March of year 2000, OPEC turned its 1999 decision, down and increased production, again got some assistance by the many of the non-OPEC producers.

It also announced a price band mechanism designed to keep oil prices in a target range of US$22 to ex machina free US$28 per tourist experience, barrel for the OPEC basket of research crudes, in relation to its goal of maintaining it with in the range of US$20. The OPEC basket is a weighted average of Saudi light and six other OPEC crude oils. Experience Design. It includes an automatic production adjustment mechanism that is cartoon essay, implemented if the price goes above or below the band, though the mechanism has not always been implemented. Other production increases followed in June, September, and October 2000, but oil prices remained stubbornly high, finally dropping at the years end(Kohl 68, Vol 26: 2005). The settlement of the basket is useful in terms that the record of the OPEC basket price is a very good indicator of the OPECs success or failure in running the world oil market. The OPEC basket price tends to run about US$2 below the US benchmark oil price for tourist experience West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI), which is the price quoted on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which is showing a complete planning done by OPEC to overestimate the expenses and underestimate the outcome. In the year 2001, OPEC faced an economic collapse in the United States that gradually widened away in the world and topic for psychology, reduced oil demand. Following several OPEC production ups and downs, the OPEC basket price initially remained in the US$20 range. However, the 9/11 attacks were followed by a decrease in air travel and a decline in the stock market that even extended the downturn. Eventually the oil demand chopped off, and oil prices sooner fell even below US$20 per barrel. In response to the situation, the tourist, OPEC called an define snope emergency meeting in late November and announced a production cut of 1.5 mb/d, in January 2002, on the condition that non-OPEC producers led by Russia would contribute an additional cut of 500,000 barrels per day.

The OPEC strategy was largely successful, which was another point proving their effectiveness in planning of the oil controlling market. Lets discuss the year 2002, with some more details. Right in the start of 2002, the OPEC was confronted by a global economic slowdown and a slump in experience oil demand. But OPEC was determined to avoid a further fall down of prices and restrained production. At the same point of time, political tensions also raised in the Middle East side with new Israeli attacks against the Palestinians and US threats against research topic for psychology Iraq that was also determined to keep the practice alive, they continued their practice of interrupting oil exports. One of the good things which was supporting the tourist experience, OPEC was its quotas that were lowest since 1991, assisted in keeping the define snope, oil stocks as low as possible and also helped in bringing oil prices back into the US$20 to US$25 range by spring 2003.

The OPECs basket prices were again within the price band settled earlier. In December 2002, OPEC again raised its production maximum to 23 mb/d to experience design support it with real production. In discussion of the nhs bursary 2016, year 2003, a strike of Venezuelan oil production workers in the early 2003 removed most of that producers oil production and exports, which eventually resulted in a shortfall in the market. At the same time, turbulence in Nigeria decreased that countrys production, as a result, at its January 2003 meeting, OPEC determined to raise its production by 1.5 mb/d to 24.5 mb/. It was mainly to compensate the Venezuelan shortfall.

Later on tourist design in march, the WTI drove up the prices to US$40 per barrel as a result of the Essay of the Flies, by William, war threat in Iraq. OPEC stood up and gave a hope by indicating that it would keep the oil market well supplied in crisis and the International Energy Agency (IEA) agreed to let OPEC challenge this before responding with any release of strategic oil supplies. Tourist Experience. When the war broke out in Iraq, the oil prices again declined to US$30, as WTI was in expectation of a short war, which was not really a case. OPEC tackled the situation of Essay on Lord of the by William lost production in Iraq by increasing the production in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Algeria. By the end of April 2003, OPEC agreed to cut actual production by 2 mb/d to 25.4 mb/d on the hypothesis that there would be a seasonal fall in demand and Iraq would be slowly get settled into the market. Saudi oil Minister, Ali al-Naimi made a good effort to keep the tourist design, price as close to US$25 per barrel as possible. Iraqi production began to slowly recover which OPEC earlier anticipated. Now oil prices were at the top of the price band. But then in August when the cartoon essay, Iraq export pipeline was damaged and UN headquarters were bombed in Baghdad, the oil prices were facing a pressure to get raised again. OPEC took a very surprising decision later on in September 2003, by deciding to cut production and return to the February plan of maximizing the production to 24.5 mb/d to obstruct stock build in the fourth quarter and maintain prices in design the upper part of the price band.

OPEC took this decision under the ex machina free, hypothesis that the experience, world economy was slowly improving and that Iraqs production and exports were slowly expanding as discussed earlier. Naimi said that OPEC would not raise the price band despite a proposal from Venezuela to do so. Oil prices rose to between US$28 and US$29 per barrel in on Lord of the Golding September and to between US$30 and US$32 per barrel by November. Both US President George W. Bush and tourist design, IEA Executive Director Claude Mandil showed great disappointment at the September decision, as they perceived it harmful for the economic growth. In the last month of 2003, OPEC confirmed its September decision, keeping in mind the disorder in Iraq and the continuing weakness of the ex machina free, US dollar, which worsened OPEC purchasing power. Design. Meanwhile, Iraqs production reached 2.35 mb/d and research for psychology, the OPEC basket price had exceeded US$28, But OPEC, in tourist response resisted this action, fearing that demand would be dropped by the second quarter of 2004. Lets now discuss the year 2004, it was sooner that OPEC lost control of oil prices in 2004, In the topic, first three quarters of that year, the OPEC basket price remained above US$40 per barrel which was far above from US$28 per barrel, however it fell slightly below US$40 per experience design, barrel later on in September. There were so many reasons behind that, such as a largely unanticipated flow in oil demand spurred by high economic growth in China and the United States, low oil inventories, deepening violence and instability in Iraq, declining OPEC additional capacity, and blockage in the gasoline market. OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, began the year by misunderstanding the market when it announced its intention to define snope decrease overproduction and stick to a 24.5 mb/d of maximum production.

Naimi confirmed his belief in a US$25 per barrel price for tourist experience the OPEC basket, mentioning concern about falling demand and a large stock build in the second quarter, and was determined not to repeat the previous mistakes of 1997 to 1999. In March, WTI prices reached a high of research topic for psychology between US$36 and US$38 per barrel and the OPEC basket price ranged from between US$32 and US$33 per barrel was yet not according to the plan and tourist experience design, willingness of retail objective many other associates. Sooner OPEC confirmed its earlier decision of cutting the output by 1 mb/d to 23.5 mb/d despite high oil prices. OPEC also tried to cut many of the supplies of market, however ministers insisted that the market was very well supplied with oil and thus OPEC should not allow any shortages in world oil markets, but they were all determined to experience design keep inventories low and prices high. White House and US Department of Energy officials criticised OPECs production cuts while prices were high. Define Snope. In the meantime, Venezuela, Nigeria, and Iran argued for the need to raise the price band, causing disagreement within OPEC. In the face of growing oil demand and attacks on oil facilities in Iraq and design, Saudi Arabia, oil prices rose above US$40 per barrel in May, which was because of a side never perceived by cartoon essay, OPEC. Naimi finally began calling for a production increase.

He got his wish at the June 3 meeting in Beirut when OPEC raised its production to a maximum by 2 mb/d to 25.5 mb/d from July 1, and by a further 500 kilo barrels per tourist design, day from August 1. This was a negotiation between Saudi Arabia, which wanted an instant increase to 26 mb/d, and Iran, which would initially only define snope accept 25.5 mb/d. The measures were taken only to ensure ample supply and give a clear signal of OPECs commitment to market stability and to maintaining prices at acceptable levels to both producers and consumers, according to a June 7 OPEC statement. Actual OPEC output was reported as 26 mb/d in experience design April increasing to about 27 mb/d in research topic for psychology June, with Saudi Arabia increasing to 9.1 mb/d. As a result, remaining OPEC extra capacity was significantly reduced to about 1 mb/d in Saudi Arabia, then again conditions turned very tight in the summer of 2004, in July, the IEA enlarged its oil demand projection for the year by an additional 2.5 mb/d.

OPEC canceled its July meeting but proceeded with its planned August increase in supply of 500,000 barrels to a maximum of 26 mb/d. Yet OPEC actions were insufficient to prevent further price increases. The WTI oil prices again moved above US$40 per barrel in experience July and hit record highs of US$44.73 on August 5 and US$48.75 on August 19, which again was an indication that OPECs planning was not implemented as decided. Another major factor for the outcome was the disturbance in Iraq, which heated up and spread to the oil rich southern regions with attacks on the South oil company pipelines. The U.S. oil inventories were still low compared with demand, refineries continued at peak production, and there was continuing concern about the small OPEC additional capacity to meet any supply disruption, which was originally about 1 to 1.5 mb/d. Saudi Arabia continued to topic for psychology secure the price band, but other countries, including Iran, Nigeria, and Venezuela, were satisfied with oil prices in tourist design the US$30 to US$40 range. OPEC facing continuing high prices was in a weaker position at its September 15 meeting. With additional capacity reduced to about 1 mb/d in Saudi Arabia, OPEC required to cure high prices by announcing an ex machina free increase in its production with a maximum from 26 to 27 mb/d in November. This was more a signal than an actual change because current production from the experience design, OPEC was already known to be 28 mb/d.

Regardless of interest by topic, several members, a decision was delayed on whether to raise the price band or not, which by this point had become inappropriate. Naimi clearly opposed the raise, saying it should only design be raised if there was a structural change in the market. Saudi Arabia, now producing 9.5 mb/d, also announced just before the meeting that it would add 800,000 barrels per day of production capacity in cartoon essay two new fields by the end of September. Kuwait was also planning to have an expansion. The WTI crude price decreased slightly after the meeting to US$43.58. The higher oil prices and expanded production has greatly benefited OPEC in the past two years through the oil export revenue. In June 2004, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimated OPECs net oil export revenues for 2004 at US$286 billion, up from US$240 billion in 2003 and US$195 billion in 2002.

Certainly all these revenues have helped OPEC in its recovery and curing from the price collapse of 1997 to 1999. Experience. However, OPEC has a very less per retail, capita income for adjusting inflation and design, rapid population growth. 2016. It should be noted that many countries are greatly thankful from the period of lower oil prices from the tourist design, mid 1980s to the late 1990s, and many OPEC countries are moving slowly on by William Golding required economic restructuring. Saudi Arabia which is OPECs largest oil producer and a leader in OPEC production decisions, will possibly earn US$100 billion from oil export revenues in tourist experience 2004 based on average oil production of 8.7 mb/d, it is quite predictable as well since the earnings for 2003 were US$86 billion. Last year, Saudi Arabia experienced healthy gross domestic product growth and a government surplus, greatly improving the cartoon essay, countrys economic situation.

However, Saudi Arabias 2003 surplus was only the second surplus in the past 20 years, during which the government had run deficits and trade imbalances. Total government debt has been nearly 100 percent of GDP, surpluses in 2003 and tourist experience design, 2004 are likely to be used to increase foreign assets and pay off some government debt, which would stable the ex machina free, countrys situation more importantly. In Saudi Arabia, oil exports put in over 90 percent of tourist design export earnings, 70 to Essay on Lord of the Golding 80 percent of tourist state revenues, and Essay on Lord of the Flies, Golding, about 40 percent of GDP, which gives a hint of its heavy dependence on oil sector. Oil export revenues per capita were about US$3,683 in 2003, which in tourist design real terms are much lower than the per capita figure for 1980 at the high point of for psychology oil prices, which was only about US$22. Saudi Arabia continues to face serious economic challenges of fast population growth, which is about 3 percent per year, which is not a healthy sign and relating them to other economies, which are not doing well because of similar population growth, such as Pakistan. Also Saudi Arabia is having high unemployment, which is about 15 to 20 percent. More recently, the threat of domestic terrorism has provided a new challenge and will require more government spending on security, which is again in relation to the increased transportation which than has a relation with the oil pricing. The large financial needs of the state have been estimated to require a stable oil price of US$30 per barrel, which helps explain recent Saudi unwillingness and disagreement at OPEC meetings to experience press for retail lower oil prices. Other OPEC members face similar challenges with even larger populations and immense financial needs. The only design exceptions are Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, which have small populations and large GDP per capita.

The Stock traders in New York, London, and Singapore, which are all aware of cartoon essay both economic fundamentals and geopolitical risks, ultimately have set the price of oil. In recent months the risk premium on the oil price may have grown to experience design US$10 to US$15 per barrel. However the OPEC actions to topic increase production have not been sufficient to reduce the upward price acceleration, which if left free, will slow economic growth and lessen the future oil demand. OPEC continues to be in tourist design a weak position by the fact that as a group of independent countries, it has no enforcement method. Therefore, exceeding quotas is a continuous problem, which weakens its efforts to manage the market. The financial needs of Saudi Arabia and other OPEC countries appear to require oil prices well above the price band as discussed earlier in relation to the population growth and unemployment, still the members have delayed making a decision about whether to admit this or not and objective, this delay has damaged OPECs market standing. It is difficult to tourist trust Saudi statements that they would be happy with an oil price at US$25 per barrel for the OPEC basket when they clearly are not trying to achieve this and their financial needs are demanding a much higher price. OPEC can certainly not control unexpected shifts in ex machina free demand or geopolitical risks. The oil market is difficult to manage and would remain this way as OPEC has limited tools and also at times inadequate information to take decisions. 21 Basic Resumes Examples for Students and New Graduates. Written by Neil O’Donnell. Published July 5th, 2017. Neil O’Donnell, CPCC is a nationally certified career coach whose experience includes over 15 years of career counseling experience in addition to his having written thousands of résumés and cover letters. Working with professionals around the globe, Neil helps recent graduates and seasoned professionals alike in achieving their career dreams. Let’s face it, writing résumés is experience a daunting task, especially for undergraduates or recent college or high school graduates. Retail? Admittedly, one of the biggest complaints I often hear from tourist experience design, such entry job seekers is cartoon essay that no one showed them how to write a résumé or curriculum vitae. Would it make you feel better to know that most teachers and professors don’t honestly know how to write a good résumé?

Truthfully, most colleges have a career center, which students are repeatedly informed about, but students rarely utilize the services at such centers before or after graduation. Tourist Experience Design? Hello! All graduates should make contact with their alma mater’s career center, because such centers usually offer free or low-cost résumé writing, basic resume examples, and interview preparation services! That said, let’s get to nhs bursary 2016, the heart of the experience design, issue. How do you write a good résumé for research for psychology, typical undergraduate/new graduate needs? Here are 4 basic resume examples, guidelines, and templates to help you out. 1. Experience Design? Sample Resume for an Internship. Most internships require a student provide a résumé and cover letter, but students often are frightened by this as they usually don’t have any experience related to the internship.

Most employers are not expecting you to for psychology, have extensive experience because an tourist experience internship is usually the first experience students have in 2016, their field. As for the structure of a résumé for internships, much of the design is tourist experience design consistent with my previous guidance. However, a few things of are more routine when it comes to an internship résumé. First, as a person seeking an define snope internship often has little or no professional experience, volunteer experience can be vital. Because, such experience can show a hiring manager or internship coordinator that you are a go-getter. You’d be amazed at design, the amount of employers across most fields place a great deal of define snope, value on volunteer experience, especially since a lot of volunteer responsibilities connect with the responsibilities of professionals. For instance, if you volunteered at a foodbank, you would likely perform a mix of duties from handling inventory, keeping records of where food was shipped, and interacting with those in needs by providing directions on where to go to obtain food.

Such experience translates into customer service and office operations experience. Considering that MOST interns end up doing a lot of design, filing work and ex machina free, call monitoring, the volunteer experience is huge. In addition to professional and experience design, or volunteer experience, I recommend internship seeking individuals include a summary of on Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, qualifications section (placed before the experience section) to identify skills they have that best match with the experience, job and/or highlight skillsets that suggest the would-be intern would excel in the workplace (aka not be lazy). Many of us have had nightmare experiences with interns. For Psychology? So, any qualifications that could point towards you being a dedicated worker will likely help your case. In the qualifications section, also include coursework you completed that is relevant to the major/internship setting. Tourist? For a business major seeking sales/accounting experience, it would be prudent to on Lord of the Flies, Golding, list courses you completed that connect with business, accounting, statistics, and economics.

See the included Internship résumé for a full example. 2. Sample Resume for a Part-time Position. Tourist Design? College students need to pay bills while professionals making little more than minimum wage need to find ways to make ends meet. This is often where a part-time job comes into play. Part-time jobs most often are connected to the service industry, though sales, medical tech, and administrative jobs often fill this void as well. In most of for psychology, these instances, training on the job is design key so a relevant degree is not usually necessary (although pursuing a relevant degree could provide an advantage. Research For Psychology? For part-time work, it is important to keep a few things in mind.

First, if you have an advanced degree (a Masters or higher), you should consider dropping that from the résumé. Tourist Experience? Because, employers might see your advanced degree and 2016, figure you will only stay long enough until you find something better (better pay or better benefits). Also, if you have extensive experience, you should limit what is on your résumé to the last ten years. Too much experience may also suggest to an employer that you won’t be there long. Undergraduates and experience design, recent high school graduates don’t usually have these issues, but older workers seeking employment (especially after a layoff), could very well find themselves battling such hurdles. Again, including a ‘Summary of Qualifications’ section is a good idea when seeking part-time work as it can highlight skillsets you have relevant to Flies,, the work being completed. Experience Design? For part-time jobs, especially those in cartoon essay, the service industry, your education can be placed at design, the end (and in many cases, it should be last as pursuit of a college degree may make a hiring manager hesitate in hiring you for fear that you are only going to be there a short time. Lastly, as with the internship résumé, those with little experience should consider including volunteer experience to help fill up one full page for ex machina free, the résumé. Tourist Experience Design? See the example for an individual seeking part-time work as a sales associate, positions many undergraduates seek out retail, while in college. 3. Sample Resume for an Entry Level Job.

Again, applying for entry-level positions, a hiring manager is not going to design, expect applicants to cartoon essay, have extensive experience. For recent college graduates, including a list of relevant coursework is a good thing to consider as employers like to hiring individuals with up to design, date knowledge relevant to retail, the field, particularly in tech fields. I also believe listing relevant technological proficiencies is crucial as many older employers often have limited experience in tourist, computer programming and repair. Topic For Psychology? As someone who has always efforted to experience design, stay on top of technological advancements, I can attest to the fact that tech-proficient individuals are a hot commodity. For those with a great deal of experience and advanced degrees who are seeking an entry-level position, drop the advanced degree and only include last ten years of experience. 4. Basic Sample Resume for No Experience. For those without any experience, building a résumé is not so easy. Nhs Bursary? Things that can help in such situations are volunteer experience, relevant coursework from school, and a job objective. Tourist Experience Design? Frankly, most of us who are professional résumé writers do not use job objectives, but when in need of filling a page, an objective can come in topic for psychology, handy. Just make certain your resume objective is focused on the job you are applying to (i.e. “To obtain a line cook position at the Cityview Restaurant). Adding a summary of qualifications section where you highlight your computer proficiencies and “soft” skills can help as well (soft skills including thriving in a team environment, conflict resolution, good communications skills, and organization).

If you participated in activities at tourist experience, high school or college, including those experiences could also be a great addition, especially if you served in ex machina free, a position such as president, treasurer or secretary. For those with no experience, staying at your first job for a few years is important to build a foundation for future success. Getting a new job every year looks bad on a résumé and will hurt your chances of tourist, being hired in the future. Armed with this advice, know that every field/major requires a different focus on what to highlight in a résumé, particularly with regards to skillsets. Asking a professor for an example of cartoon essay, her/his résumé would provide a good foundation to start with.

Additionally, the following samples offer a glimpse at what a solid résumé would look like.

courtly love essays Washington State University. We are so familiar with the love tradition that we mistake it for a natural and universal phenomenon and have no impulse to inquire into its origins. But it is difficult if not impossible to show love to be anything more than an artistic phenomenon or construct -- a literary or performative innovation of the Middle Ages. The term Courtly Love (l'amour courtois) was coined by Gaston Paris in 1883 (in the journal Romania ), so the first problem is that we tend to tourist experience let the Victorians define it for us. The terms that appear in the actual medieval period are Amour Honestus (Honest Love) and Fin Amor (Refined Love). The concept was new in the Middle Ages. The medievals were the cartoon essay, first to discover (or invent) it, the first to tourist design express this form of romantic passion. There was no literary nor social framework for it in topic the Christian world before the design, end of the 11th century; the ex machina free, Western tradition had no room for the expression of tourist love in literature: there's none in define snope Beowulf or The Song of Roland . The religious tradition speaks of experience design love, but that's agape -- platonic/christian love of all humankind as your brothers and cartoon essay, sisters. In classical literature we witness what's called love, but, as exemplified well by the case of tourist experience Dido for Aeneas, the passion is often described in firy terms and always reads like eros -- hot lust. (Medea and Phaedra are other cautionary examples, and love plunges them into crime and disgrace.) Ovid's Ars Armitoria and Remedia Amoris ( The Art of Love and The Cure for Love ) are ironic and didactic treatises generated from a premise that love is a minor peccadillo. Ovid gives rules for illicit conduct.

Rather unlike Courtly Love, the literature of the nhs bursary, Church is anti-feminist. And the tourist experience design, tastemakers in feudal society marry not for love but for real estate and heirs. It's been said that in the Middle Ages you married a fief and got a wife thrown in with the bargain. Idealized love goes against the utilitarian economics of marriage, and passion was forbidden by the Church, so until the courtly version came along, Love was duty and Luv was sinful. Thus, Courtly Love emerged and remained outside of marriage. Essay On Lord Of The Flies, By William. (Love and marriage don't go together like a horse and experience, carriage.) C.S. Lewis decided that its key features were humility, courtesy, and adultery. Scholars who have believed that Courtly Love was a true historical development rely on the literature to read back a history. They have decided that it all began in southern France, which was sufficiently peaceful and Essay, isolated for such a movement to develop. Old Roman war dogs retired here (Avignon; Toulouse; Nimes under the domaine of Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine) and the leisure class, a wealthy and design, self-sufficient society, found a new fad. (After all, you can't love if you're poor -- check your Andreas Capellanus.) Intellectuals from all over retail, were attracted to tourist design the area's courts. The south was freer and ex machina free, more tolerant, and was pluralistic (with Arabs, Jews, and Byzantines numbered among the residents).

And perhaps the experience design, men outnumbered the women (check Rules 3 and 31 in Andreas). What we find are troubadour poems. The troubadours were not really wandering minstrels but mostly rich young men, using the Provençal langue d'Oc . Circa 1071 is the birth year for cartoon essay the first known troubadour, William IX of Poitiers. [In the north, feudal knights preferred epic poems of tourist experience design chivalry like the Arthurian tales crossing the channel. Ex Machina Free. But trouvères picked up the troubadour tradition, transposed into the langue d'Oil . In Germany they were called minnesingers.] Consider Arnaut Daniel's Chanson do.ill mot son plan e prim (A Song with Simple Words and Fine) and Bernard de Ventadour's Can vei la lauzeta mover (When I See the design, Lark Moving). Guillaume de Machaut comes later, in define snope the fourteenth century, but is a key big name in love songs: Amours me fait desirer (Love Fills Me with Desire), Se ma dame m'a guerpy (If My Lady Has Left Me), Se je souspir (If I Sigh), Douce dame jolie (Fair and Gentle Lady), etc.

The formes fixes of the tourist experience, poetry included: Ballade: a a b (or, if a = ab, then ab ab c) Virelai: A b b a A b b a A. Rondeau: A B a A a b A B In other words, there were learned combinations of rhymes, stanzas, and concepts. Some of the music survives but we've lost the ex machina free, form of the rhythms. The Courtly Love sung of in the songs represents a new structure, not that of the tourist, Church or of feudalism, but an ex machina free overturning of design both.

Love is now a cult -- a sort of religion but outside of normal religion -- and a code -- outside of feudalism but similarly hierarchical. Define Snope. The language and the relationships are similar (and the language, sometimes borrowed from religion, ends up borrowed back by religion in tourist design certain lyrics). Define Snope. In feudalism the vassal is the man of his sovereign lord; in courtly love, the vassal is the man of his sovereign mistress. In religion, the sinner is tourist design, penitent and asks that Mary intercede on his behalf with Christ, who is Love. In courtly love, the sinner (against the laws of love) asks the mother of the love god, Cupid's mother Venus, to intercede on his behalf with Cupid or Eros, who is the god of love. So this new love religion seems to parody real religion. That's the static phenomenon interpreted. But the define snope, process of courtly love, a long-standing relationship with standardized procedures, can be extracted from the literature and tourist, tales of Essay of the love in the medieval period.

Here's the deal. Andreas Capellanus describes the optic physiology of the first moments. In short, he sees her. Perhaps she is walking in tourist a garden. The vision of her, which is made up of light rays, enters into his eyeball (hence the blind cannot fall in love).

Through a rather circuitous anatomical miracle, the love-ray makes its way down around his esophagus and sticks in his heart. Now he's love-struck. She doesn't know about him at all. She is of high status and daungerous, which means not that she knows Tai Kwon Do but rather that she is standoffish. He is abject. After haunting himself with visions of her limbs (by the way, she's long gone now), he swoons a lot and follows various of of the Flies, Andreas' rules (you can't eat, you can't sleep; there's no doubt you're in tourist design deep). Eventually all this love has to come out somehow, and remarkably it tends to emerge in well-crafted stanzas with rhyme patterns mentioned above and a zippy little meter. Research Topic. Secretly, the tourist design, lover writes poems to the lady called complaints (planh in Provençal) because they are largely constructed of laments about his own suffering. Ex Machina Free. These may be delivered to tourist experience her by an intermediary. But she remains scornful while he or his friend continues heaving poems in her window tied to ex machina free rocks.

Before actually getting a poem in the teeth, she, through some quirky event, will come to know who has been sending the poems. Experience Design. Eventually she will smile, which means she has accepted him as her drut (dread -- meaning not oh, no, there he is again but rather in topic the sense of awe: revered one). Next comes the performance of tests. The lover gets a token, perhaps a glove or a girdle (not the 18-hour kind -- more a scarf or sash). Tourist Design. And the woman gets carte blanche -- jousting, journeys, deeds, anything she wants. Sir Eminem has insulted me.

Kill him. He has to. Bring home some pork chops. Those last ones were awful. He has to go slay a wild boar. Fetch me the molars of the Sultan of Baghdad. He's got to climb the widest sea and swim the highest mountain and, though he has nothing against 2016 them per se , he's got to hack his way through the Sultan's guards and experience, face the old boy, saying, Render hither thine molars, payan swine! Nay, that likest me not nor will I nother! Then he has to decapitate the Sultan, wrench out the back teeth, and get back home (probably switching clothes with a palmer at some point), only to retail find out that now she wants some Baskin Robbins pistachio swirl.

And this goes on tourist endlessly. Supposedly the finer points of courtly love were so complex that Eleanor's daughter, Marie of Champagne, commissioned her chaplain, Andreas, to write a rulebook. Another religious man, Chretien de Troyes (fl. 1160-1172) was ordered to write Lancelot, in which the knight's hesitation at getting into a cart is crucial. Andreas supplies a Latin prose work, De Arte Honeste Amandi ( The Art of Courtly Love , as the title is usually loosely translated), which subsequently has been taken as a textbook on courtly love. But Andreas is 2016, a churchman. Check out some of the chapters in the Table of Contents! And what's your honest reaction to tourist design reading some of this. Ex Machina Free. A textbook on illicit love?

31 rules? Why 31? Andreas also provides legal cases! Supposedly, the history of love included Courts of Love ruled by the ladies. There's no historical evidence that this ever took place, and it seems pretty unlikely, but Andreas' material has been referred to tourist experience so often that it has come to seem true. Here's one case: a woman's husband has died. Can she accept her servant as her lover?

The decision: no, she must marry within her rank. Objective. This is not to say that a widow may not marry a lover, but then he would be her husband, not her lover. Another case: a knight is experience, serving his lady by defending her name. It's getting embarrassing and she wants it stopped. There is much debate about this case. The decision: no, the nhs bursary, woman is design, wrong; she cannot forbid him from loving her.

A final case: two little kids were playing in their medieval sandbox and noticed all the fine ladies and gentlemen engaged in the new love fad about them. They imitatively also agreed to a contract between them: that they would share a kiss each day. They years have passed and this guy keeps showing up at the door every morning for retail objective the kiss. The woman wants to be released from this juvenile contract. Does she have a case? The decision: granted, because the tourist, rules specifically state that one cannot be about the ex machina free, business of experience design love until one is around the age of thirteen. Therefore all those kisses given since that age must be returned. (Huh?) So is this all a joke? Andreas also offers a retraction -- an about-face at cartoon essay, the end.

And he mentions a duplicem sententiam (a double lesson). Finally all seems sinful and tourist design, love a heresy. Does Courtly Love heighten the status of women? Yes, compared to their roles merely as cup-bearers and peace-weavers -- that is, in retail objective Beowulf for example, servants and political pawn in marriage. But. One must acknowledge that the chivalrous stance is a game the master group plays in elevating its subject to pedestal level. As the sociologist Hugo Beigel has observed, both the courtly and the romantic versions of love are 'grants' which the male concedes out of his total power.

Both have had the effect of obscuring the tourist experience design, patriarchal character of Western culture and in their general tendency to attribute impossible virtues to women, have ended by confirming them in a narrow and often remarkably conscribing sphere of behavior. (Kate Millett, Sexual Politics 37; qtd. in nhs bursary 2016 Toril Moi, Sexual/Textual Politics 27) The love story has been one of the most pervasive and effective of all ideological apparatuses: one of the most effective smokescreens available in the politics of cultural production. One need only tourist, think of the historical popularity of crime stories purveyed as love stories: from the Trojan War -- that paradigmatic linkage of ex machina free love and genocide -- to Bonnie and Clyde, from the subcultural Sid and Nancy to the hyperreal Ron and Nancy, we see the degree to which the concept of love is used as a humanizing factor, a way of appropriating figures whom we have no other defensible reason to want to identify with. It is also a way of containing whatever political or social threat such figures may pose within the more palatable and manipulable (because simultaneously fetishized as universal and individual) motivations of love and sexual desire. the love story, a narrative that frequently disguises itself ( qua narrative) or is taken as natural as opposed to the contrivances of other generic forms. (Charnes 136-137). The era of courtly love vanished quickly under the impact of economic and cultural devastation brought by the Albigensian Crusade (1209-1229). Northern knights headed by tourist experience design Simon de Montfort swept down, the country was impovershed, freedom disappeared, and an inquisition and northern French dialect were imposed.

The rule of Paris put an end to the south for centuries. But the songs did survive and travel, into objective, the north by the trouvères, east into tourist experience design, Germany with the minnesingers, south to Italy. The Art of Courtly Love .
